To Botox or Not to Botox

Last year, the FDA told doctors not to use Botox to treat people with cerebral palsy. Botox is used to control muscle tightening, which is common in people with CP. Muscle tightening can lead to arthritis, hip pain, and other undesirables.

A new study published in the scientific journal Neurology just found it to be generally safe, and now the American Academy of Neurology is recommending it for use, in spite of what the FDA says.

I just thought it was interesting considering I’d only ever thought of Botox as a remedy for those of us who smiled too much as children and are now suffering from chronic cases of crow’s feet. I don’t count myself in this group, since I’m half-Asian and yellow don’t mellow.
