I usually give police officers and local news “journalists” about the same marks on the human worth scale. But here’s one point for the reporters. From Crystal Hilliard of Channel 16 in Jackson, MS:

Every morning in downtown Jackson, [Meter Maid] Edwards makes her rounds. It’s her job to ticket cars parked by expired or handicapped meters.

She said the [Jackson Police Department] vehicles are repeat offenders.

“A lot of (police) park here, but they’re not supposed to,” Edwards said. “They’re not supposed to park in these handicaps.”
Edwards said she issued the tickets on Thursday at 8:50 a.m. — one for an expired meter and the other for parking in a handicapped spot, which carried a $200 fine.

Channel 16 took photo evidence of the crime to the Assistant Chief of Police, who said the cop responsible would be held accountable (read: they’ll be back at it tomorrow).
